KIMERA

Neo_Tableware

Kimera tablewear is the result of an approach to reality ( agnosia ) and the desire to design a product that works and that invites reflection to see beyond what has been learned. Through a vision of art and design, the goal has always been and will be to treat a medical issue emotionally and warmly, thus highlighting the fact that it is not about users but about people. The resulting crockery is designed to invite the user to interact unconsciously and innately with the proposed shapes and textures, objects that invite you to embrace with your hands, thus elevating the eating experience.

Purpose

Design a new tableware system that invites reflection and responds to the needs of people with agnosia within the home.

_03

Value “there is no single way”. Materialize this concept, thus showing that it is possible and viable to design new ways and ways to eat while maintaining its function

Value Proposition

During the investigation of what visual agnosia is, it was concluded that it was the basis of the design of the object system; people with agnosia suffer from the inability to recognize objects, this leads to reflect that for these people there are no "universal symbols" such as the plate (which is a socially recognized object) this means that for them there are no unique forms for objects, this conclusion is the exact definition of what abstraction is, dispensing with all figuration.

Conclusions

It is interesting because there is a thread that unites the abstract and instinct, instinct is an innate behavior, a behavior that dispenses with the use of reason and logic, this is the basis of abstract art, fleeing from the obvious and known . This tableware is the result of both concepts (abstract and instinct) working as one. If people with agnosia do not associate specific forms to the objects that exist in our society, it gives rise to designing tableware that is not formally associated with the tableware that we understand socially but that continues to fulfill its function as tableware.

Unlike most crockery, this one is highly sensitive, so it must not only fulfill its function as a crockery and be able to improve the experience and quality of life of people with agnosia, but it must also function and be the object of reflection on the longing for a new reality, that society is aware of the different realities that coexist together and that must be given a voice and contribute from different fields such as design
